This morning was a gray, rainy Monday, and after gauging my tiredness from the weekend, I immediately decided comfort was key. It is finally starting to feel like fall around here so I pulled out a favorite sweater and tried to channel a retro marc jacobs/ marni/ geek chic kind of look with some simple basics.
While I usually look like a nerd at work (I mean, I work in a cubicle, in finance- enough said) today’s attempt was deliberate.
Theory is my go to for work basics, but I always wait to find it on sale, since it barely changes between seasons. The sweater was a steal from T.J. Maxx and the pants are a recent sale purchase at Neimans (my exact pair isn’t pictured.) The subtle check and cropped length are very Betty Draper 60’s ish.
I added my favorite pair of chunky heels (some of the most comfortable ones I own, FYI- highly recommend) and my favorite carry all to schlep around all my work necessities. It’s another Maxxinista steal by some random designer, which has been mistaken for one by Tom Ford and another by the Row (I haven’t been able to find my bag, which is black, online, but I found one in olive on eBay so you get the idea.)
I finished my look with a pair of glasses I scored while working at DVF. Sometimes boring basics are chic, right?
literally have a sweater obsession now…i want them all
