don’t go knockin’ on my door

looking for the absolute easiest (and sweat proof!) way to add a little fash-un to an ordinary outfit? oversized gold earrings take any look up a few notches…

the other weekend i had no idea what to wear (do i ever?!) and settled on a black tank paired with some oversized vintage clip-ons. i ended up getting several inquiries on them, which took me down an etsy/pinterest/real real rabbit hole hunting for more the next day.

while i’m partial to the “door knocker” 80’s style (the horizontal loops like #5, which look great with a low ponytail btw), there are such a range of awesome styles available right now, and many bargain finds. especially as the temperature rises, bold earrings are such an easy thing to put on, elevating any basic tank top or shirt dress into a fashionista-worthy ensemble.

a round up of picks below..

1– joanna laura constantine ($205)   2– mango ($20)   3– faye andrada ($285)

4– kenneth jay lane ($88)   5– kenneth jay lane ($60)   6– kate spade ($78)

7– jennifer behr   8– forever 21 ($5)   9– urban outfitters ($16)

10– sweet & spark ($58)   11– jc penney ($9)   12– chanel ($2,225)

want some vintage options? my favorites are these, these, these and these

powder puff

as with everything in fashion, one day you’re in and the next day you’re out (cut heidi klum project runway voice here). to me, one recent transition has been particularly stark– the last or two have been all about the statement shirt, but we swiftly transitioned from 2016’s off the shoulder (“OTS”) bohemian moment straight into a world of late 1980’s poufed power sleeves. volume, ruching, structure and even shoulder pads are showing up EVERYWHERE this fall. let’s peruse…

while i’m ready to stick padding in my blazers, i am digging the puff sleeved vibe. in my head, i envision a crisp white pirate shirt of sorts, paired with dark high waisted denim, a big ole pair of ear baubles, and some slick patent loafers. is it just me, or do other people plan dream outfits in their head as much as i do?

1- blouse, 2- earrings, 3- straight jeans, 4- loafers, 5- hooded parka, 6- mini bag

when i found this blouse by Sea at bergdorf’s last week, i immediately fell in love with the detailed sleeves and elastic bodice ruching. however, i did not love the $350 price tag– for a top i will a) be sick of in 3-6 months and b) get a bronzer stain on the neck immediately upon wearing.

i love my statement shirts and their ability to make an easy outfit, but as a “late 20’s lady” as my boyfriend calls me these days, i’ve also realized how quickly they rotate in and out of my closet. with that in mind, I set out to find some less pricey internet dupes. my five favorites are below…

1- sea, 2- asos  , 3- pixie market, 4- urban outfitters, 5- anthropologie, 6- asos

CPs— what are your feels on this trend?! love it or leave it? lemme know!

into the fringe

When I saw my girl OP rocking this fringe skirt along with some other snazzy ladies, I knew it was going to be one of my more daring fall purchases. theres something tough and western but distinctly feminine about the look. I first discovered a lux one at Scoop and was mulling over a splurge purchase when I luckily found Zara’s copycat last week (what did we do before inditex??!)—three clicks later its on the way to me. Love the idea of pairing the dramatic fringe with a simple cotton T.

i figured it has been a while since i did a little splurge vs. save post, so channel the looks above, no matter what your budget

tshirts: splurge on an alexander wang (pricey but last forever) or go more basic with j.crewimage003

skirts: scoop keeps it classy in a more tailored style while zara offers an identical style for less

**third option by alice + olivia if you’re looking for a mini

bags: dying for the combo of red/green + camo/studs on this last season valentino, but BR’s stripe offers a citron pop

shoes: to master the fall transition, stick with a open toe bootie to transition from sandal weather. keep it sleek in the Vince addie or save with a similar style at urban outfitters (in a dream world, channel OP in these alaia

p.s.– don’t these new fall clutches at BR take a page from Anya Hindmarch?!
