flower power

as you know, statement earrings have been having a big moment of late, and rebecca de ravenel’s bon bon earrings were last year’s star of the show. for spring 2K18, supersized is still hotter than ever, but taking a more organic silhouette- meet the statement flower.

lucky for us, the chicas (and chicos) at zara are on top of it, with their own $20 version for a similar look (there is also an exact dupe on etsy here). i plan to double up 2x the flower power, with a breezy floral dress, straw bag and textured slides.

marigold moment

this weekend a dear friend and avid CP supporter texted me a picture of herself in this hot little jumpsuit, headed out on the town (and looking fabbbb). words can’t explain how much it meant to me– I thought my heart was going to burst. I couldn’t believe there is not only someone willing to read my jumble of thoughts and ideas on the internet, but also someone who wants to buy (and wear) them!!!??! Little encouragements like this are the reason I keep blogging. ❤️ you all, chicas.

now on to today’s main event–

mustard, marigold and dandelion yellow are all having a major moment this fall. while the bright color might scare you, it’s actually quite versatile– perfect paired with denim, navy, black or brown. It provides a little pop of excitement and is rich enough to be muted into some very sophisticated looks. Scroll to shop my current finds featuring the hue…

4- braided sandals

5- fendi geometric sunnies

6- tata harper beautifying face oil

7- supergoop lip + cheek color

werk it

I am probably the last person on the planet to watch the movie the Intern…I think it was a combination of being scarred from watching the first half of The Internship, the worst movie ever (titles are too close for comfort, imho) and hating Anne Hathaway. However a rainy night and HBO Go led me down the rabbit hole, and I ended up loving the movie. How precious was Robert De Niro??

One of my favorite parts, as with any movie, was Annie Boo’s serious work wardrobe. As a pretend fashion startup CEO, the girl had serious fashion game, a mix of tailored, slightly boyish pieces that perfectly matched the vibe of her Park Slope townhouse, despite sleeping 4 hours a night and having a toddler. Ah life according to Hollywood *sigh*. However, the movie did kickstart me to refresh my work wardrobe. A few new necessities…

#1 a pussybow blouse. this isn’t the first season of this school girl inspired trend, but the fall I’m seeing all sorts of variations popping up. I particularly love this slightly western dvf style, a bargain find from h&m and an all white version by frame.

#2 a light blazer. not just for memorial – labor day anymore, a well tailored white, grey or cream blazer has now secured its place on any working girls list of staples year round. try this one from RL’s club monaco, a classic by rag & bone (60% off!), or a light grey veronica beard.

#3 borrowed from the boys footwear. footwear this fall is all about masculine-looking loafers, brogues and flat slides. i’m lusting over these metallic loafers, these tasseled loeffler randall oxfords, a classic jcrew pair of brogues and a copycat tabitha simmons black & white everlane pair.

#4 a work appropriate sweater. for cooler days ahead, ‘nuf said. try stripes by sonia rykiel, ruffles by rebecca taylor (i tried this on at saks last week and may have to have it), an embroidered ann taylor and a rolled neck vince version.

#5 sharp accessories. to add pizazz to any old outfit, try a skinny leather beltsleek nude backpack (or this one!), and timeless square faced watch.
