as is usually true with fashion, everything eventually comes full circle. however, this micro trend takes me wayyy back to the 9th grade, when my daily school uniform was a pair of true religion flared jeans, clarks wallabees, a black north face jacket and one of my many many pastel colored lacoste slim cut polo shirts. i thought this ensemble qualified as the HEIGHT of fashion??! sick.
this spring, however, polos are very much baaaack. but in a fresh new fash-shun way, with a nod to the 70s, more knit fabric constructions, banded stripes, and bolder primary colors.
the vibe reminds me of this blue sandro set i wanted last April and waited too long to buy (#sad).
besides pulling out your old faithful lacoste from the closet, here are some newer options out there to try– a slim fit tory burch, a classic white fred perry, a ladylike reiss, this ribbed yellow or an open weave version, both from zara, a printed stella jean, an uber chic striped lacoste, and a clearance steal at sandro. as many of the CPs above did, i recommend tucking them into a sleek skirt for an athletic/ladylike mix.
