g.i. jane(t)

my close friend has started questioning my sanity, since this trend is v. outside my typical comfort zone, but my new favorite fall must-have item? the combat boot. i’ve purchased this affordable mango pair to see how much wear i get before investing bigger time, but i am currently drooling over these rag & bone, as well as other options by stuart weitzman, sam edelman, givenchysigerson morrisonzara and barney’s.

i’ve had to restrategize my jean wardrobe since this style requires a return to longer skinny jegging styles (cropped flares have been having such a moment), but i love the look with a chunky sweater (similar vibe for less) and soft leather jacket like the last CP above. when it gets colder, i might even throw this plaid topper on for another layer. will i end up looking kaia gerber cool or more liv tyler in empire records? guess you gals will have to be the judge…

don’t go knockin’ on my door

looking for the absolute easiest (and sweat proof!) way to add a little fash-un to an ordinary outfit? oversized gold earrings take any look up a few notches…

the other weekend i had no idea what to wear (do i ever?!) and settled on a black tank paired with some oversized vintage clip-ons. i ended up getting several inquiries on them, which took me down an etsy/pinterest/real real rabbit hole hunting for more the next day.

while i’m partial to the “door knocker” 80’s style (the horizontal loops like #5, which look great with a low ponytail btw), there are such a range of awesome styles available right now, and many bargain finds. especially as the temperature rises, bold earrings are such an easy thing to put on, elevating any basic tank top or shirt dress into a fashionista-worthy ensemble.

a round up of picks below..

1– joanna laura constantine ($205)   2– mango ($20)   3– faye andrada ($285)

4– kenneth jay lane ($88)   5– kenneth jay lane ($60)   6– kate spade ($78)

7– jennifer behr   8– forever 21 ($5)   9– urban outfitters ($16)

10– sweet & spark ($58)   11– jc penney ($9)   12– chanel ($2,225)

want some vintage options? my favorites are these, these, these and these

girl at the rock show

TGIF chicpeas! i dont know about you, but it’s taken me a lot of angry teen rock music to get through this week, especially Blink 182’s take off your pants and jacket album, which has been on heavy rotation (do it- you’ll feel better).

band tees have made a big comeback in street style of late, as you can see from the bloggerinas below. as a result, i’ve been inspired to edge up my typically conservative style and make it a little more ‘rock and roll’ by incorporating a faded tee, leather and some studs. try some for yourself, get angsty, and and prepare to party all weekend long…

1– leather jacket 2–cat eye shades 3– choker 4– cherry tee (another great option)

5– studded backpack  6– military jacket 7– sleek sneaks 8– crystal shades 9– rainbow hoops

10– beats headphones  11– leather pants 12–vegan leather skirt 13– moto boots

14– waistless denim  15– embellished crossbody 16– faded logo tee 17– shirred tank

toasting spring’s arrival

this weekend we rang in the arrival of warm weather at the engagement party of a childhood friend. i was not only very excited for the happy couple (EMB y’all are precious together) but also for the chance to debut my first warm weather frock of the season. what i wore…

Nicholas maxi dress

2 nancy gonzalez clutch (i carried a vintage suede clutch similar to this)

3 givenchy abstract pearl ring

4 nude slides from forever21 (old, similar option here)

Nicholas is currently one of my go-to brands for special events, their prints and embellishments make show-stopping party dresses. since i don’t love the $600+ price tags that usually accompany them, i’ve been lucky to find several available on rent the runway or at end of season sales on shopbop (you can see me in another Nicholas back at Christmas here) .

this one was absolutely gorgeous, super comfortable and slightly sheer at the bottom. this picture turned out super blurry but you get the gist…

check out some of my other favorite nicholas styles (including a few available rentals)– very similar printed maxi, this blue stunner perfect for playing wedding guest, a bold polka dot pantsuit, a punchy strapless number, a gorgineee tiered lace dress and their ever flattering plunging V-neck LBD. you can also see all the Nicholas styles RTR has to offer here.

cheers to spring CPs– we made it!!
