feeling shady

while it may be monday, which means my next pool day is 5 (!!!) whole days away, these chic peas are making a serious case for investing in a pair of white sunnies to accompany me next weekend. white is glam, retro, guaranteed to show off a tan and the perfect way to take your summer look up a notch….

my favorite options for nailing this look? a retro Raen pair (identical to picture 2 and 4), a tortoise shell version by my girl OP, a bargain priced club master pair, this mod round pair by my favorite new orleans brand Krewe, top shop’s cateye style and this white and gold pair by Dior.

toasting spring’s arrival

this weekend we rang in the arrival of warm weather at the engagement party of a childhood friend. i was not only very excited for the happy couple (EMB y’all are precious together) but also for the chance to debut my first warm weather frock of the season. what i wore…

Nicholas maxi dress

2 nancy gonzalez clutch (i carried a vintage suede clutch similar to this)

3 givenchy abstract pearl ring

4 nude slides from forever21 (old, similar option here)

Nicholas is currently one of my go-to brands for special events, their prints and embellishments make show-stopping party dresses. since i don’t love the $600+ price tags that usually accompany them, i’ve been lucky to find several available on rent the runway or at end of season sales on shopbop (you can see me in another Nicholas back at Christmas here) .

this one was absolutely gorgeous, super comfortable and slightly sheer at the bottom. this picture turned out super blurry but you get the gist…

check out some of my other favorite nicholas styles (including a few available rentals)– very similar printed maxi, this blue stunner perfect for playing wedding guest, a bold polka dot pantsuit, a punchy strapless number, a gorgineee tiered lace dress and their ever flattering plunging V-neck LBD. you can also see all the Nicholas styles RTR has to offer here.

cheers to spring CPs– we made it!!

drop in the bucket

the ‘it’ bags for spring are shaping up nicely (lol, i crack myself up). while many of you are probably sick of me still yammering on about bucket bags, since they’ve been hot for several seasons, leave it to fashion to re-invent an old favorite. meet the bucket bag 2.0. – cleaner, smaller, more structured and many resembling an actual bucket. while the simon miller ring bag below is a hit with all the street style stars, its tiny open shape is perhaps not the most practical for shlepping your everyday essentials around. but practicality be dammed. it’s springy and cute, like carrying around a little pot of flowers. check out the looks and my favorite bag picks below….

mule monday

ladies there’s a new shoe in town….and it is one of the least expected items ive found myself ever snatching up. the mule is this season’s heel du jour–refreshingly spring-y, a little retro and yet modern at the same time. do yourself a favor and grab a pair to try out the trend. ive been wearing mine with white skinnies, a slouchy t and a blue blazer.
