double denim

if you’re looking for a great pair of lighter cropped denim, this cheap monday pair, priced under $80, is a dead ringer for a more expensive citizens pair i tried on at aritzia the other day. they’re a super flattering length, just high waisted enough, and don’t stretch (fits true to size).

proof of their perfection? i wore them all three days this weekend– dressed up with a suede jacket and body suit for dinner friday night, down with a tshirt and sweater to walk my friend’s pup saturday morning, and finally very hungover on the train sunday after an epic wedding weekend– congrats JEM! some other people must have discovered their magic because they’re sold out on shopbop where i bought them, but you can still get them in select sizes here and here.

your best body

this sounds random, but i have been on a bodysuit buying rampage lately, which may or may not be partially inspired by lauren bushnell (which i cringe to admit). while they can get a bad rap for being very 80’s jazzercise, the seamless smooth look achieved when tucked into high waisted pants or shorts can’t be beat. the photos below show just how versatile a bodysuit can be — from tucked into a dressy skirt, worn under a baggy sweater, paired with a leather jacket for date night, or put beneath a blazer for the office.

the tip to keep from looking too kardashian (unless that’s the vibe you’re going for) is of course something looser over top. my favorite picks so far? a simple asos tank (which i’ve now ordered in 3 colors), a scoop back american apparel, this plunging alice and olivia, a deep double V with long sleeves (which did need a little altering from my tailor), a bright ruffled free people, and a soft j.crew knit (on sale). try one and see, i guarantee it’ll work its way into your weekly rotation and you’ll be stocking up on a few more.

max for the minimum

my friends and family know (and often laugh over) how much i love hunting for a good bargain– growing up in a small town, I could usually find more designer brands available at our local TJmaxx or at small consignment stores than at any high end store we had at the mall. i absolutely love the thrill of finding something unexpected at a great price, and even now with a plethora of shopping options at my doorstep, i still peruse TJ, H&M, forever21, eBay, etsy and thrift stores like Housing Works on the reg (last weekend over Easter I scored a Chanel-esque pair of woven slingbacks for $18).

so you can imagine just how happy I was to find this wedding guest-friendly dress, which is very reminiscent of a mixed print DVF one, at a very un-black tie price ($100)! wear it with sleek metallic accessories and a dark pout for a look that’s guaranteed to give the max for the minimum.

wear it with…

1– topshop maxi dress, $100

2– bajra silk shawl, $290 (20% off with code FF2018)

3– kenneth jay lane faux pearl drops, $60

4– schutz metallic sandals, $190

5– proenza schouler arizona scent, $100

6– chloe mini pixie bag, $990

and since i’ve gotten numerous requests for other spring event dresses, check out other floral picks by saloni, asos, rebecca taylor, vince camuto, alice & oliviatanya taylor, and reformation.

sweet stripes

Forget Easter Eggs & peeps, i’d rather put the pastels on my feet– in the form of some candy colored stripes! Pair with a basic white dress or some cropped wide leg culottes for an easy Sunday look.

1– zara

2– dolce vita

3– h&m

4– diane von furstenberg

5– prada

6– loeffler randall
