steal her style #5

in need of a little monday outfit inspiration? look no further than taylor tomasi hill and this perfect fall look. she nails looking office acceptable (ie collared shirt and pencil skirt) while incorporating a plethora of funky pieces (embellishments, leather, OTK boots, stacked bangles), as only a former vogue accessories could do. this mix master perfectly bridges the gap between an uptown meeting and downtown drinks. plus, it can be adapted for almost any weather, given the lots and lots of layers. steal her style with these nine key pieces, below…

1– ruffled cotton blouse

2– cobalt clutch

3– quilted bomber

4– opaque tights

5– leather skirt

6– OTK boots

7– chain link bracelet

8– appliquéd sweater

9– tortoise shades

marigold moment

this weekend a dear friend and avid CP supporter texted me a picture of herself in this hot little jumpsuit, headed out on the town (and looking fabbbb). words can’t explain how much it meant to me– I thought my heart was going to burst. I couldn’t believe there is not only someone willing to read my jumble of thoughts and ideas on the internet, but also someone who wants to buy (and wear) them!!!??! Little encouragements like this are the reason I keep blogging. ❤️ you all, chicas.

now on to today’s main event–

mustard, marigold and dandelion yellow are all having a major moment this fall. while the bright color might scare you, it’s actually quite versatile– perfect paired with denim, navy, black or brown. It provides a little pop of excitement and is rich enough to be muted into some very sophisticated looks. Scroll to shop my current finds featuring the hue…

1– gauze scarf

2– lips sweatshirt

3– fringe earrings

4– silk kimono dress

5– tie waist skirt

6– OTS knit top

7– bonsai bucket bag

8– ruched zipper skirt

9– embroidered cotton shirt

10– coco velvet sandal

back to school

two days of much needed girl time in DC this weekend led to the usual discussions of jobs, puppies, weddings, workouts, and of course– fash-shunnnn. the unanimous decision on fall’s ‘must have’ shopping list? a denim skirt. let’s review…

to avoid a full throwback to our middle school A&F mini days, look for one that’s 60’s inspired, dark colored and tailored. i’ve rounded up a plethora of inexpensive options out there– a pocketed madewell and nearly identical jcrew version, a wrap style from asos, topshop, snap front by rag & bone jean and one marked down at club monaco. perfect with a striped t-shirt half tucked for now, and worn under an oversized fluffy sweater once the real chill sets in. ammmirightttt?!

what i wish i was wearing wednesday

on monday night I got the chance to attend the opening of sotheby’s newest prints show, which was done in partial collaboration with DVF’s creative director Jonathan Saunders. for those of you who don’t him, you can read about my obsession with his new collection for the brand here. it was a cool event that featured looks from the newest DVF summer collection to browse and pre-order in addition to the art for auction. much of his fireside chat was dedicated to talking about his unusual color pairings and it got me itching to add some brighter hues into my work week mix.

this sandro set is slightly retro and the perfect spring alternative to a dress. pair with a long boyfriend blazer over the shoulders and some chunky gems to avoid looking a little too preppy. also, as with any event filled with the “fashion crowd”, i got to see the latest fads in action– including the shoe du jour, the low slide. not the sexiest of looks, but i’m tempted to try nonetheless. luckily i found this pair of nude slides at payless, which are doppelgangers for these much more expensive Philip Lims. definitely worth trying at just $29!

1- sandro knit top

2- sandro skirt

3- julie vos chunky bracelet

4- christian siriano slides

5- theory boyfriend blazer

happy humpday CPs! what would you like to be wearing today??
