winter wonders

after a week in Cali, i am (hopefully) headed back east– and apparently straight into NY’s first snow.

since jet blue isn’t currently cooperating, i stole time to round up a few winter ready picks necessary to get back in the city swing of things. compared to sunshine and 60, i’ve realized that NY life has not only pushed me towards all black everythinggg, but also more toward a blend of function & glam. it makes me crave a little ~edge~ that warmer weather fashions just don’t allow.

currently, i am loving the idea of a fancy print coat or embellished party sweater with some joggers and sneaks– comfy and cozy, slush friendly, and also holiday ready without trying too hard. and as a PSA for anyone in need of a more casual jacket, ive been wearing this tory sport-like bargain over yoga clothes and chunky knits for the last two weeks straight! fingers crossed i finally get out of this airport. Xx

1– metallic sneaks 2– cashmere joggers 3– leather weekend bag

4– miracle cure (i have been slathering this everywhere!, including painfully dry post-shave legs)

5– leather dress 6–pom pom beanie

7–shearling platforms (perfect for a winter commute) 8–leopard jacket

9– beaded sweater 10– crystal drops 11–matte lipstick 12– cocoon coat

girl at the rock show

TGIF chicpeas! i dont know about you, but it’s taken me a lot of angry teen rock music to get through this week, especially Blink 182’s take off your pants and jacket album, which has been on heavy rotation (do it- you’ll feel better).

band tees have made a big comeback in street style of late, as you can see from the bloggerinas below. as a result, i’ve been inspired to edge up my typically conservative style and make it a little more ‘rock and roll’ by incorporating a faded tee, leather and some studs. try some for yourself, get angsty, and and prepare to party all weekend long…

1– leather jacket 2–cat eye shades 3– choker 4– cherry tee (another great option)

5– studded backpack  6– military jacket 7– sleek sneaks 8– crystal shades 9– rainbow hoops

10– beats headphones  11– leather pants 12–vegan leather skirt 13– moto boots

14– waistless denim  15– embellished crossbody 16– faded logo tee 17– shirred tank

what carine says is cool

i frequently wish i was a better purger. over the years i’ve tried to get better at letting go of pieces sooner and making space for new. however occasionally the hoarding comes in handy– you never know what will come back in style– and it’s especially helpful when you see some cool girl walking down the street wearing something you already own.

such is the case with a pair of pointy toed ankle booties from J. Crew that have been hidden in the back of my closet. i rarely wear them because the narrow heels make any subway ride extra hellish, but they were a gift from my parents and to be honest I just never got around to finding them a new home.

thank god for my laziness, however, because seeing this recent snap of bella maqnifique Carine Roitfeld made me need my boots asap. she’s truly the most sexy, fashion-forward sixty two year old I’ve ever seen (i hope i look half as good at her age). here she’s wearing an almost identical pair, styled in her classic french way– all black, a little edgy, and lots of leg.

screen-shot-2017-01-07-at-5-05-59-pmcarine is proof that a good stiletto never goes out of style. so get yourself a lookalike pair stat– options by nine west (shown below), via spiga, jimmy choo, johnston & murphy, and stuart weitzman

#1 zara fleece jacketone of my best purchases this fall, half coat/half sweater, this blanket style feels soft as a bathrobe but is tailored enough to wear to work. see me debuting it on insta here.

zara-coat

#2 beaded tassels. ladies in love with the oscar de la renta tassels, look no further. this etsy shop has jaw dropping identical options all for $49

tassels

#3 h&m biker jeans – pair with a cozy sweatshirt, beanie and sneaks for a perfect errand running outfit.

hm-pants

#4 western belt – as many of us know, the model/trendy fashionista clan has been rocking western style belts for some time. while i am a little skeptical on how long this fad will stick around, at $6 you can test drive it for yourself and say goodbye when its on to the next thing.

belt

#5 twist-front teewhile technically it rings in slightly above $50, if you sign up for the club monaco email program you can get it for $50.15 (does anyone else think of isla fisher in bachelorette when you hear club monaco? if you havent seen this movie, just do it). my friends know i am notoriously cheap for buying tees— my go to’s are always scoop neck t-shirts from h&m, Target turtlenecks and long sleeved jersey ones from the cynthia rowley for TJmaxx line. seriously, i never pay more than $30– because i end up throwing them away after a season or two and buying all new. however, the detail on this one makes it worth the extra dough and i made the mistake of trying it on at the store– lit-er-a-lly-yyyy the softest. sold.

***honorable mention to these amazing dv for Target mule boots ringing in for only $27!!! you, my bootie friends, didn’t get featured in the top 5 because you arent available online and/or in stores anywhere in my size. grrrrr. so i didnt want you gals to feel the sadness/anger/disappointment flooding my emotions when i see them. target reps— call me, i want them. their parent brand dolce vita has them online here at a much higher price. nnneeeew thank you.
