steal her style #6

the weather gods have not cooperated with me (yet!) but i am dying for a day warm enough to slip into an easy, slinky dress and lots of light neutrals– hopefully accented with a healthy (faux) glow like alessandra, above. get the vibe with these slip dress options by anine bing, mango, rag & bone, topshop and the reformation

1– silk slip dress 2– oversized jean jacket (available in petite!)

3– woven mules (under $100) 4– two-tone bucket bag 5– horse bit belt

6– my new fave all natural lip balm (thx rjb!) 7– coin necklace

jammy time

i saw regina george wearing army pants and flip flops, so i bought army pants and flip flops….

last week at the st. lucia concert at city winery, i saw a chic pea wearing a dark printed pajama top. she easily stood out against a sea of black and had paired it simply half tucked with a ponytail, skinny jeans and some western style booties…it was all just working. while her bag and booties were very trendy, the black made them feel accessible enough that even i could pull the look off. so of course i did what one does in the age of mobile mania– i ordered most of her outfit promptly in the cab ride home. below are the three winners from my quest for a pajama top, plus other less expensive options by express, zara and nordstrom rack.

get her whole look below…

1– silk button-up top, j.crew

2– juliet silk pajama top, cinq a sept

3– liana silk pajama blouse, l’agence

4– “ori” satin lipstick, tom ford

5– huxley booties, topshop

6– kendall distressed skinny jeans, grlfrnd

7– mini johnny bag, danse lente

8– compass ring, retrouvai

9– bee pinky ring, mejuri

crop swap

i love the unexpected styling of this black aritzia wrap top with a pair of cropped navy pants, but the look got even sweeter when i found a $20 dupe for the shirt at h&m! the sexiness of an open back pairs perfectly against slightly tomboyish chinos, for a Gwen Stefani sort of vibe. Try it two ways, dressed up or down…

1– h&m tie top    2– aritzia crop top    3– flared chinos

4– sunglasses    5– bucket bag    6– wedge sandals

7– superstar sneakers    8– gold bracelet    9– rainbow bracelet

hope you have a good week CPs!! Xx

mad for mango

this is a new type of post for me….the dressing room diaries… so please be nice! i would love feedback on whether you love or hate this idea.

last week i went to return a pair of pants at mango and ending up spending an hour in the dressing room with all sorts of great finds. they really have been nailing it lately. so, i decided to document the process!

i frequently feature items on le blog without seeing them in person, and i thought this would be a great way to show how some things look in real life, especially since there were so many things i loved but did not end up buying. a professional photographer/fit model i am not (I’m 5’3″ for reference), but hopefully you will still enjoy these behind the scene snaps!

the printed silk dress

i absolutely loved this dress and may head back to buy it. the deep V neckline and ruching was so flattering! it would be perfect for a summer cocktail party or wedding. i also tried on this green version, which has a similar garden party type of vibe but was a little more matronly. if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to nail the floral dress trend, there are a bunch more options on their website to peruse. lastly, i tried on this slinky jumpsuit –sadly it was way too long in the torso on me– but would be a great option for taller gals.

the knit tank

i loved the idea of this top, paired with some dark flared jeans for a 70’s sort of look. however, i couldn’t decide if the actual fit was actually more beverly hills 90210 in reality. this one didn’t come home but i went with a boxier tassel style to pair with shorts.

the funky flats

i was immediately obsessed with these embellished burnt orange mules, which reminded me of something a very cool interior designer gal i know would wear. as i have found with most mules, they run a tad small so size up 1/2 size. my practical brain prevailed, however, and i decided these silver ballet flats were something i could actually incorporate into both my corporate and weekend wardrobe. they are super comfy and look much like a newly released everlane style.

the oversized button mini

i wanted this dress after seeing it on the ever chic jacey dupree, but decided very much that, unlike her, i looked like a flight attendant in it. the black was a little too harsh on me and the neckline has a rounded collar that i just didn’t love. au revoir oversized buttons.

other things i purchased and didn’t document? this baggy short sleeve sweater, these marni inspired resin earrings, and a slouchy pair of plaid pants.

still want more mango? my online cart currently holds this striped linen dress which is a dupe for this hit faithfull style, a netted bucket bag (the perfect summer statement piece!), some high-waisted belted shorts that channel Julia Roberts in pretty woman, and an office friendly sleeveless knit. shop on #mangogirls!
