tibi time of year

there are so many great sales going on right now it’s hard to keep track. however one of my favorite brands, tibi, is having an especially epic one— up to 70% off plus an extra 15% with code sale15. it’s the perfect excuse to stock up on some investment pieces for fall– i couldn’t resist this gorgeous reversible wool coat in cheery red nor a very of-the-moment balloon sleeved blouse. you can check out my highlights below or shop the entire sale here. shop on cp’s!

1– sleeveless dress: effortless and easy, you could wear this to multiple weddings and parties with different accessories and no one would be the wiser.

2– snap detail pants: the ultimate workhorse, this pair is perfect for work but cropped to show off sneaks on the weekend.

3– statement tunic (love this plaid version too): truly loveee the idea of this very Tory-esque tunic over a bathing suit as a cover up now, and layered under a sweater or leather jacket in cooler temps

4– crocodile slides: i don’t think the slide trend is slowing down anytime soon, so you can wear these babies now and again next summer– because who doesn’t love a double buckle?

5– silk blazer: i’ve been dying for a ‘wear with everything’ white blazer (read about my new blazer obsession here). the oversized buttons and slit sleeves add an ‘it girl’ factor to this one.

5 under $50

some chic steals and deals to get you through your week– 5 of my current favorites, all under $50

#1 zara fleece jacketone of my best purchases this fall, half coat/half sweater, this blanket style feels soft as a bathrobe but is tailored enough to wear to work. see me debuting it on insta here.

#2 beaded tassels. ladies in love with the oscar de la renta tassels, look no further. this etsy shop has jaw dropping identical options all for $49

#3 h&m biker jeans – pair with a cozy sweatshirt, beanie and sneaks for a perfect errand running outfit.

#4 western belt – as many of us know, the model/trendy fashionista clan has been rocking western style belts for some time. while i am a little skeptical on how long this fad will stick around, at $6 you can test drive it for yourself and say goodbye when its on to the next thing.

#5 twist-front teewhile technically it rings in slightly above $50, if you sign up for the club monaco email program you can get it for $50.15 (does anyone else think of isla fisher in bachelorette when you hear club monaco? if you havent seen this movie, just do it). my friends know i am notoriously cheap for buying tees— my go to’s are always scoop neck t-shirts from h&m, Target turtlenecks and long sleeved jersey ones from the cynthia rowley for TJmaxx line. seriously, i never pay more than $30– because i end up throwing them away after a season or two and buying all new. however, the detail on this one makes it worth the extra dough and i made the mistake of trying it on at the store– lit-er-a-lly-yyyy the softest. sold.

***honorable mention to these amazing dv for Target mule boots ringing in for only $27!!! you, my bootie friends, didn’t get featured in the top 5 because you arent available online and/or in stores anywhere in my size. grrrrr. so i didnt want you gals to feel the sadness/anger/disappointment flooding my emotions when i see them. target reps— call me, i want them. their parent brand dolce vita has them online here at a much higher price. nnneeeew thank you.

currently coveting

happy friYAY chickadees. in honor of the gloriousness of this day, welcome to a round up of my latest fall wardrobe whims and desires, otherwise known as the hit list. a sartorial smorgasbord if you will, of everything under the sun I have my eye on. since attention spans are short these days, I capped it at 7 today, but trust me, the full list is much longer!

#1 cut out booties. the other night post yoga, i spied a chic little pea eating outside at Rosemary’s wearing some badass booties and had to restrain myself from asking where they were from. they were slightly western, but new york edgy, with a walkable 2″ heel — the perfect pair for current 70-degree pre-fall weather. you know, when you want the fall-ish vibe but without the hot feet? so far ive found these babies, this studded pair, a sleek version by my lover philip lim (could buy everything in his Fall ’16 collection),  a basket weave jeffrey campbell, and taupe ones by cool girl brand kaanas.

#2 a dark shearling jacket. yes, this request total counteracts the practicality of desired purchase numero uno, but i gotta find one. kind of a kate bosworth vibe, no? lurrrve this vince x563, this marked down see by chloe, dip a toe in the water with a fluffy version from nasty gal, or sell a kidney for an alc.

#3 tibi sweatersssss. like amy smilovic, your sweater game is currently STRONG. i want them all and i want them now. obsessed with this cozy military style pocket sweater, also this one, which has sleeves that can be buttoned up or left open, and who doesn’t like a pom pom? so fun. boom shocka locka.

#4 velvet slingbacks from banana. rumor has it that bananas shoes are made by vince camuto, which explains their dominance season after season while the clothes are usually questionable at best (but seem to be improving this year). i saw this chiiic pair and loved their lux simplicity (they look like manolos!). perfect to dress up jeans, wear to work with skirts or debut during thanksgiving festivities–something about turkey and velvet just feels so right…

#5 gold ear huggies, crawlers, studs and knots. the more i live in new york, the more i want to pierce my ears all over. call it some weird form of delayed teenage rebellion (trust me, i did NOT have any sort of a rebellious streak at 16…more like nerd alert) but i think the driving force behind said mutilation is all the dainty, clingy, crawly designs out there. they look best in threes, fours and fives– the more the merrier! i want these baguettes, flower huggies (similar here), an ear cuff, and this gigi hadid approved pair (find a simpler style for half the price here).

#6 this dress will be mine come holiday parties, mark my words. debating this romper too (oops!)

#7 winter shorts. these belted dvf darlings became mine last week (25% off with code FRIENDS25), after i lusted after suede shorts at intermix all of last fall. try a pair bare legged now and with tights for later. so cute with a basic t or turtleneck. not sold? sailor shorts by derek lam or a skort version by carven.

better late than never

i think i am the only female under 25 who hasn’t made a new years resolution yet this year….since it’s already late January, maybe i should make it procrastinating less?

Screen Shot 2015-01-26 at 7.18.00 PM

in all seriousness i started out 2015 with a bang and couldn’t wait to get back to blogging. life and a new job has inevitably crept up on me, but i’ve realized how much i missed this blog. so to get myself back on track i’ve rounded up a few style resolutions to kick my butt into gear. for anyone interested, you can read last year’s resolutions here.

#1 buy less, purge more. and no, not in the blueprint cleanse kind of a way. with closet space limited in our shoebox for 3, i desperately need to check myself before i wreck myself. i have now amassed 2 closets of clothes (1 here and 1 home in Virginia) and that needs to change. i have vowed to cut back (at least in terms of quantity), edit my wardrobe, and consign when possible. check out my stuff on the poshmark app if anyone wants to help me out in this endeavor!

#2 channel the French. i am going to be more french (i.e. epitome of chic) in all that i do–french designers, french hair, french fries (i kid i kid). but seriously, while i could write a novel on this subject, there is a reason french women are known for their sense of style. and its because it looks EFFORTLESS. think black, nautical stripes, loose bedhead hair and a general sense of je ne sais pas (in america i believe we call that DGAF). carine roitfeld is my icon and her instagram will be my daily source of inspiration. my look will (hopefully) be achieved through this great basic blouse by Equipment, a pair of well tailored trousers (i found amazing ones at the Catherine Malandrino end of season sale), sleek heels and a punchy statement coat.

french tshirt

#3 rock the midi trend. while this may seem counter intuitive to #2, since trendy is the antithesis of timeless, im daring myself to play with proportions. i plan to conquer my fears and rock the crop top, the midi skirt and maybe even a wild pair of culottes before the year is through.

for all you timely CP’s what were your new years resolutions?! stay safe from the snow new yorkers!
